What are we about?
Freestyle Movement is about enabling the local breaking and freestyle dance community to grow and thrive. Our founding objectives are based on three key pillars. Teaching dance classes, hosting dance events, and providing practice space.
We are a registered non-profit private company founded in August 26, 2016. Since then we have taught thousands of hours of dance class, hosted events and provided consistent practice space. All of our proceeds go into supporting our three key pillars to build the community.
Our Leadership Team
Hubert Lin
Director
Hubert is a co-founder of Freestyle Movement. He helps out with event planning, practice space scheduling and website maintenance. He also teaches breaking classes.
Pranaya Prajapati
Director
Pranaya is a co-founder of Freestyle Movement. He has been a large part of organizing events and teaching classes in Edmonton. Sometimes he even picks up the mic to Emcee.
Patricia Limcangco
Director
Patricia is a co-founder of Freestyle Movement. She built our first website, designed event posters and engaged with the community through social media and in-person
Elaine Ho
Director
Elaine is a co-founder and finance executive of Freestyle Movement. She manages the books and is a key part of our annual programming.
Amit Vaghela
Festival Director - One for the City
Amit has always worked closely with Edmonton's breaking and hiphop community, but is most well-known for creating One for the City, one of Western Canada's largest breaking and hiphop dance festivals.
Josh Kearney
Event coordinator
Josh is the former executive of the Open Styles Dance club at University of Albertal. He has organized events like Unrivaled, The pillars, One for the City sessions, and more.
